Hello

Neighbourhood Renewal

The Crumlin/Ardoyne partnership includes 14 other groups who work alongside us to help reduce the many issues residents of this area are facing.

What We Do

NEIGHBOURHOOD RENEWAL

Back in 2003 the Government launched a Neighbourhood Renewal – people and place strategy. These neighbourhoods are in the top 10% of most deprived wards across Northern Ireland. After consultation this resulted in 36 areas being identified and targeted for intervention.

The place where we operate is the Crumlin/ Ardoyne area. There are approximately 15,000 people in this area with the Waterworks ward being the most deprived, with almost 2 out of every 3 children living in poverty.

Projects Neighbourhood Renewal were involved in:

  • At the start of the pandemic we started working in the North Belfast Foodbank. However during the month of December approx. 3500 food hampers were delivered as well as Christmas toys to those in need.
  • Completed survey on how safe people feel in their homes – outcome from survery resulted in 600 safer home packs being funded by Belfast City Council for people in the area.
  • Alongside the North Belfast Senior Citizens Forum we have been involved in making North Belfast Dementia Friendly.
  • Alongside the Peace Barriers Project Worker we assisted the Cliftonville Men’s Shed in securing funding as well as helping to weed out the flowerbeds that had been over run with weeds.
